Feasibility Studies and Energy Efficiency: On-Site Visit to the Meliana Electric Cooperative Pilot

Delivering tangible community energy projects requires rigorous technical validation and sustained on-site support to turn renewable ambitions into operational assets.

As part of the Encom-Hub project, Milagros Peña and María Domínguez from the Energy Technological Institute (ITE) visited the pilot energy community hosted by the Cooperativa Eléctrica de Meliana. The session provided an opportunity to present the findings of ITE’s techno-economic feasibility assessments for proposed rooftop solar PV installations, alongside building energy efficiency audits performed across key pilot facilities. The team also conducted an on-site inspection of the construction works for the cooperative’s new industrial warehouse and headquarters, where the planned collective photovoltaic systems are scheduled to be deployed.

This field engagement underscores Encom-Hub’s practical contribution toward equipping local cooperatives with sound technical foundations to accelerate decentralized, clean energy adoption.
