Encom-Hub Consortium Convenes in Sofia

Scaling energy communities across European regions requires close technical synergies among transnational partners alongside the hands-on assessment of local pilot models.

During the recent Encom-Hub Consortium Meeting hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria, representatives from the Energy Technological Institute (ITE), Milagros Peña and María Domínguez, shared the progress and technical outputs achieved within the initiative. The presentations detailed comprehensive techno-economic feasibility studies for solar PV systems, building energy efficiency audits across pilot communities in the Valencian Community, and the delivery of participatory workshops and regional forums. The meeting also included an on-site visit to the Vitosha district pilot community, providing firsthand insight into the shared rooftop solar initiative at the “Emiliyan Stanev” Secondary School, an exemplary benchmark of collaboration between local authorities and citizens.

This cross-border gathering reinforces the consortium’s collective mission to combine technical expertise, social innovation, and scalable operational models to accelerate community energy transitions.
